Adapted posthumously from an early concept drawing for the 1963 book, Hop On Pop.

In 1963, Dr. Seuss wrote Hop On Pop, a tribute to fatherhood.  Dr. Seuss's own father, T.R. Geisel was very supportive of his son and a great influence on his artwork.

  • He was the inspiration for Dr. Seuss's love of animals and many of the wacky creatures that populated his work. Best-selling examples of Seuss’s beloved animal artworks include the Taxidermy Sculptures, After Dark in the Park, and more.

  • His father inspired the nonsensical and fantastic inventions and machines that became a hallmark of some of his most famous artworks and stories.

  • Dr. Seuss's father inspired the "Dr. Seuss" name that would become iconic the world over.
